We are excited to share wonderful news from The Zambezi Queen Collection
‘Something exciting is taking shape on Impalila Island.
At the end of December 2026, Ichingo Chobe River Lodge will temporarily close as we embark on a significant transformation, introducing entirely new tented accommodation and enhancements to the lodge's shared spaces.
And while there's plenty we're looking forward to sharing over the coming months, here's a first glimpse of what's to come.
Beautifully New, Distinctly Ichingo
Our existing guest tents will be completely replaced, with redesigned interiors and bathrooms, more generous private decks and thoughtful new comforts throughout. Inspired by the natural surroundings, the new design brings together warm earthy tones, organic textures and carefully considered furnishings, creating welcoming spaces that feel right at home on the island.
More Space to Stay Together We're also excited to introduce a completely redesigned River-view Family Tent. Two separate en-suite tents will be connected by a private central deck and lounge, offering a wonderful shared space for families, friends or couples travelling together. It's a new way to enjoy Ichingo, with the privacy of separate bedrooms, bathrooms and the comfort of a space to come together. And of course, children of all ages are still welcome at Ichingo.
The Heart of Ichingo Remains While the accommodation is changing, everything that makes Ichingo special remains. Its secluded island setting, warm and genuine hospitality, and the freedom to explore the Chobe River with a dedicated guide and boat for every tent will continue to define the experience. It's the Ichingo guests know and love, with an exciting new chapter ahead. We look forward to welcoming guests back in May 2027, with bookings already open for stays from May onwards. We'll be sharing more of the designs and details as the transformation progresses, so keep an eye out for what's coming next.
