Lanzerac Receives International Recognition at Tourism Film Festival

Congratulations to Lanzerac Wine Estate on winning a Silver Award at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA) for its beautiful film created to launch its acclaimed Pinotage coffee table book.

Last month, Lanzerac received a Silver Award at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA) for the film created to celebrate the launch of its acclaimed Pinotage coffee table book.

The recognition places Lanzerac among an elite group of tourism and hospitality brands honoured at one of the industry’s most respected international film festivals, which this year attracted entries from 47 countries, showcasing some of the world’s most compelling tourism and destination storytelling.

Developed in partnership with creative agency Xpotential, the award-winning film offers a poetic and visually compelling tribute to Pinotage’s unique place in South African wine history. Through evocative imagery, reflective storytelling and a deep sense of place, the film honours the people, landscapes and legacy that have shaped South Africa’s signature varietal and Lanzerac’s enduring connection to it.

The International Tourism Film Festival Africa celebrates excellence in tourism communication, destination marketing and branded storytelling, recognising productions that successfully connect audiences to places, people and experiences through authentic and emotionally resonant narratives.

This recognition is a proud achievement for our estate and for everyone who contributed to bringing this story to life,” said Emile Langehoven, Lanzerac’s General Manager. “Pinotage is woven into the fabric of South African wine heritage, and this project gave us an opportunity to celebrate that legacy in a meaningful and enduring way. To receive recognition on an international stage alongside entries from 47 nations is both an honour and a testament to the power of authentic storytelling.”

The sentiment is echoed by Lizanne Vos, CEO of Xpotential, whose team led the creative development of the film. “Our objective was to create a film that captured not only the history of Pinotage, but also the emotion, character and sense of place that surround it. This award reflects the strength of the story itself and the collaborative partnership that brought it to life.”

The accolade further reinforces Lanzerac’s position as one of South Africa’s most iconic wine destinations and highlights the growing importance of creative excellence in connecting heritage brands with global audiences.

Lanzerac extends its sincere appreciation to Xpotential and all creative partners whose talent, vision and dedication helped bring this story to life.

As Lanzerac continues to honour its heritage while embracing the future, this international recognition serves as further affirmation that stories rooted in authenticity, craftsmanship and a profound sense of place have the power to resonate far beyond their origins.

Celebrating the Harvest in Stellenbosch

March brings joyous harvest celebrations to Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands

Welcoming a New Season

The Harvest Parade is a longstanding tradition in Stellenbosch, created to ‘bless’ and give thanks for the beginning of a new harvest season.

Each participating farm brings its own spirit and creativity to the event, turning the streets into a lively celebration of agriculture, heritage, and community.

On Saturday, 31 January 2026, the annual parade once again filled Stellenbosch with colour and jubilation. For the fourth consecutive year, Lanzerac claimed the ‘BESTE VLOT’ trophy, a testament to the estate’s unity, mutual respect, dedication, and innovative ideas.

Every team member played a role in shaping this momentous success, reflecting the collaborative spirit that defines the estate.

The parade not only celebrates creativity and community pride — it also symbolises the official start of the new harvest season. It honours the resilience of the farmers who work tirelessly in the fields, ensuring the bountiful crops that eventually grace dining tables across the country.

Harvest Season at Lanzerac

While the parade is vibrant and festive, following this, the Harvest Season is celebrated at Lanzerac in a quieter, gentler tone.

During March, the estate celebrated a bountiful harvest. Grateful for nature’s generosity, Lanzerac takes time to honour the hands that picked, the vines that flourished, and the land that abundantly provided.

Across the Winelands, each farm has its own way of marking the season — some host long tables in the vineyards, others gather for blessings or even a celebratory dance.

Lanzerac’s approach is quieter. Here, thanks is given gently and sincerely, acknowledging the land and the season with a sense of calm appreciation.

Together, the Harvest Parade and the Harvest Season capture the essence of Lanzerac: joyful celebration balanced with deep gratitude.

These traditions honour the estate’s heritage, the dedication of its people, and the enduring generosity of the land — reminding visitors and locals alike why harvest time remains one of the most meaningful periods in the Stellenbosch calendar.
