Nestled just outside the reserve, the Eco Farm offers a warm and wholesome introduction to the safari experience, guests are able to freshen up after their journey and enjoy a relaxed lunch prepared from produce grown right on the farm.
At the heart of the project are the farm's productive growing tunnels, where a variety of seasonal vegetables, herbs and leafy greens are cultivated throughout the year. From crisp lettuce and spinach to tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and fresh herbs, much of the produce grown here finds its way directly into the kitchen at Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa. The farm plays an important role in supplying fresh, locally grown ingredients that are used to create the lodge's exceptional dining experiences, reducing the need for long-distance transportation while ensuring guests enjoy produce at its freshest.
Guests visiting the farm can take a leisurely stroll through the growing areas, learn more about what is being cultivated and gain an insight into the journey from farm to fork. The 35,000 hectare “Big 5” reserve in the Waterberg District is rich in wildlife, and prides itself on being home to the world’s largest concentration of endangered white rhino living on private land, which are fiercely protected by a world class, highly skilled anti-poaching unit.

The lodge enjoys panoramic views over a busy watering hole – and, for guests wanting a more intimate experience, also links via a 65-metre tunnel to an incredible underground hide hidden in close proximity to the waterhole. Mhondoro is widely regarded as the benchmark for luxury safaris in this region, with a reputation for service excellence and gourmet cuisine, paired with a wide selection of fine wines.
